I can't believe it. People (at least in America) hire coaches to help them with online dating. More to the point, there are already people making money off this stuff on a second level. First the dating sites themselves, now the advisors.

Though this is an interesting article .Dating asks what benchmarks are to be used to judge online dating. Are people active in Internet dating more likely to date and find a partner than people who do not, the same or less?
It is our judgement that for many people, particually professional or people in minorities, who may be living far from their home towns and families, and who may not work in a fixed location with a set of known people, Internet dating is the ONLY option.
Any effort to improve it is good, but Internet dating is here to stay, and if it is failing than dating will more and more be failing.

We at .Dating have noticed a major change over the last 2 months of the number of scope of stories we track on Online dating. 4 months ago most stories were repeated over and over again in smaller local media, but now major news outlets from all over the world are not afraid to talk about Online dating. In 8 months it has gone from a fringe thing people were ashamed to admit to towards a everyday part of international life.
In a years time people will probably not be able to remember how we all used to find dates.

When you feel comfortable with your communication, you can give them your personal email address. Register a separate email account for this purpose, and only use it for your personal correspondence.
Only meet in a public place for the first date, and preferably, set up a time limit for the date. For example, you can say you only have half an hour before a business appointment; this will help if the date does not go as you hoped for. A 'coffee date' is a safe bet.

Bad Press
We have noted a number of negative stories about online dating in the press. Really they have always been there. First it was not going to work, now that its working we get horror stories from the dating scene.

There is certainly a need to use these sites in a responsible way, ie, to arrange meeting with individuals in public places. Sex related crimes are far from anything new.
But we are sad that the press seems to want to make this a negative story, no matter how it turns out. There are risks involved with any new technology and change in society and it is our opinion that Online Dating is working and improving people's lives, in some cases very significantly.
Just remember to be safe.

I may not make $20 million a month like the other sites my size but google pays me good money My effective CPM (under $1.00) may be very very low, but when you have a site this huge it really ads up. Online Dating Attracts A New Crowd
Been a while since we've updated. Both the dotdating staff and I have been a bit distracted by job stuff of late.
Here is an article about fraudsters who are starting to pop up on internet dating sites in the United States (it also appeared here).
Naturally our first instinct here is to warn all you internet daters out there to stay vigilant. We believe that online dating is quite safe and secure, but like everywhere else in the world, there are a few rotten apples who see it as a source of easy scams.
In a sense this is testimony to the success of online dating. Scammers only go where they think they can make money. Obviously they have seen how many people are using these sites too.
